With January now well underway, the fad diet plans have fizzled away, and even the most strong-willed amongst us are sensing the temptation to stray from our demanding fitness resolutions.
And here is the reason.
Only 51% of men and women actually come up with New Years resolutions, and out of those that do, 79% are unsuccessful.
So why?
Because goals and objectives that are established simply for the sake of an arbitrary date on the calendar aren't formed with legitimate purpose and commitment.
Truthfully, the date or time-of-year can not be more inconsequential to your targets and aspirations. If you truly wish to alter something in the way you live, you change it from the instant you have the realisation and keep making that alteration each day thereafter.
It has grown into somewhat of a habit for most of us to develop New Year resolutions in the frame of mind that we will not adhere to them - we merely develop them for the sake of having a resolution. Thats it!
So, now is the time to think.
Think hard in regards to what you genuinely want to achieve. Then consider why you want to achieve it.
Perhaps you want to lose weight because you plan to live long enough to see your kids grow older. Maybe your vision is to complete a marathon someday. Or just to feel better about the way you look.
Whatever your goal is, carefully consider your incentive for achieving it.
Then, whenever you feel your determination deteriorating, if the custard creams start winking at you from the biscuit tin, or when a takeaway seems like a great deal less effort after a hard days work, think back to your true drive for accomplishing your objective.
Determine what you want the most. Your objective, or that quick-fix.
And if you want your goal badly enough, you will persevere and ignore the distractions.
Everyone has the ability to produce a genuine positive change to their own lives, those that succeed in generating positive changes have no super-human powers, they dont find it any easier than anyone else to make these changes, they just want it more!
