Takeaway Owner Fined

Many owners don't give a second thought to their takeaway insurance policies, but given the nature of the business, it's always good to have cover for those major eventualities.

Consider a recent story from Birmingham which highlights the fact that owners of such businesses can face many problems whilst operating their shops and restaurants. And it reinforces the need for the support of sensible takeaway insurance.

The tale concerns one takeaway owner who runs a Kebab shop in one of the suburbs of Birmingham. It's very likely he made use of cheap takeaway insurance, but even so, decided to get rid of his waste in a novel fashion. He dumped his bin bags containing food rubbish outside a nearby chip shop.

The Kebab shop owner, who's nearly 50 years of age, had been caught four times last summer on CCTV fly tipping outside other neighbouring takeaway businesses, all of whom had thoroughly researched the takeaway insurance UK sector before taki ng out appropriate policies.
Complaints from these takeaway traders about the illegal fly-tipping activities alerted the Birmingham City Council environmental wardens. They in turn launched their own CCTV operation which revealed the man's car.

The man ended up in front of Birmingham Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to breaking an offence within the Environmental Protection Act. He was fined over 3,000 for his fly-tipping jaunts.

A spokesman for the City Council said:
"We will not tolerate fly-tipping in Birmingham. By dumping waste on his neighbours' doorsteps, [he] has shown complete disregard for both the law and his fellow traders. He has never provided any explanation for his behaviour despite repeated invitations. One can only assume he was attempting to dodge paying for proper waste disposal something of a pointless exercise as he now has to pay a substantial fine."

Getting rid of waste from a business is nowadays an expensive business, so a few t raders try to cut corners and save themselves a few pounds by dumping waste illegally. This particular man in Birmingham obviously thought that by dumping his waste at the sites of other takeaway businesses, he would camouflage' his illegal fly-tipping.

It reinforces the point that takeaway businesses, like most others in the UK, can rarely spot oncoming problems. And in this case the culprit was caught red-handed, but should something else had happened, then the repercussions could have been far more serious.Choose Takeaway Insurance to suit your own budget with us.

For example, if the dumped waste had been toxic and the fly-tipping not obvious, then the innocent business could have ended up being blamed initially. In such cases, the owner knowing that they have good takeaway insurance policy supporting them (which would probably include legal cover for representing the owner is such situations) is worth a lot of peace of mind.

A difference between Takeaway and Restaurant - Food - Restaurant Reviews

A Restaurant and Takeaway, both are same but it has some difference in service and cuisine. A Takeaway means prepared food that is intended to be eaten off of the premises. The Restaurant is an establishment which prepares and serves food and drink to customers in return for money. Takeaway food is often fast food, but not always so. Whereas fast food carries the connotation of a standardized product from a globalized chain or franchise, take-away outlets are often small businesses serving traditional food, which is sometimes but by no means always of high quality. In some cases, there are facilities for customers to order food by telephone, fax, or over the Internet, to be collected or delivered. This trend is thought to be on the rise as many small businesses take to the Web to promote their take-outs. Food that is delivered by a restaurant to a customer is also sometimes called take-out. Certain types of food that are normally served in sit-down restaurants are commonly available...
